FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

”Welcome to the Consumers Carpet FAQ page, where we answer your top questions about flooring installation.”

How long does a typical flooring installation take?
Most residential installations take between 1 to 3 days depending on the size of the project and the type of flooring selected. Luxury vinyl and laminate installations are often quicker, while solid hardwood may require extra time for acclimation and precise fitting. Our team works efficiently to minimize disruption to your home.

Are your flooring options pet-friendly and scratch-resistant?
Yes, we offer a wide variety of highly durable, scratch-resistant flooring options that are perfect for homes with pets. Luxury vinyl planks (LVP) and high-grade laminates are excellent choices because they resist wear, claws, and moisture stains beautifully.

If you have any additional questions that were not covered in this Consumers Carpet FAQ, please do not hesitate to contact our showroom specialists today.

How should I prepare my home before the installation team arrives?
To ensure a smooth installation process, we recommend clearing all small items, breakables, and electronics from the rooms receiving new floors. It is also highly beneficial to remove any hanging wall art that could be rattled during the process. While our professional installers handle the heavy lifting of your large furniture pieces, making sure the pathways are clear helps us complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions About Vinyl Plank Flooring

Is vinyl plank flooring good for Toronto basements?
Yes, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is the best choice for basements in the Greater Toronto Area. Because it is 100% waterproof, it will not warp, swell, or buckle when exposed to subfloor concrete moisture or seasonal humidity changes.

What is the average cost of vinyl plank flooring in Toronto?
While traditional retailers mark up prices significantly, our wholesale warehouse rates start around $1.50 per square foot for high-quality, durable vinyl planks, helping you save on material costs.

Can luxury vinyl planks be installed over radiant heating systems?
Most modern click-lock and glue-down vinyl planks are fully compatible with subfloor radiant heating systems. We recommend checking the specific wear-layer parameters of your chosen style before installation.
